At least the newcomer was a colour that was found in human nature. Lorne was not. And neither was another (purple) denizen of this strange little town. But he liked it best that way. It was an odd place, but wasn't that why people loved it?

A smaller home for misfits. A smaller Los Angeles.

With his thoughts moving between different things, like what he needed to do and the new arrival of someone who didn't like him..which was only weird because it had been a very long time since Gunn's little gang decided to show their prejudices. He missed Gunn though. It was a shame that the young man got so lost. They all got lost.

Never mind that. He was humming quietly to himself, hands in his jacket, when he caught sight of someone who gave off the newish vibe. "Lost, Pump-- Gunn!" The green demon squeaked. Like a girl. And hugged him tightly.

Had a big green.. man.. just come up and hugged him? He turned his head sharply and green eyes locked onto the green.. creature. Until he was hugged, and Jalil lifted his hands reflexively to push the (man?) back. A little bit of panic was setting in, and he reached down with his left hand for his Swiss army knife that wasn't there. No, they'd left that behind.. it was too bad. That steel could cut anything.

"Get off of me." He grunted, shoving at the other man again.

I touched it. My hands are on it right now -- they're filthy. They were in gloves. But still dirty. Horribly filthy.

Lorne was pushed, and knit his eyebrows together briefly, then looked a little sad. But that was covered up extremely quickly, and he was all smiles again. "I'm sorry, Pumpkin. You look like someone I knew some time ago."

Ahem. Straightening his jacket, the jolly green lifted his eyebrows. "New in town?"

Jalil stared down at his hands a moment before rubbing the gloves down over his sides, then curled his fingers up. He needed to wash them. And his face.

"I'm sorry to have disappointed you." Said simply, and green eyes lifted up to look at the.. thing standing in front of him. Had he just been called pumpkin? Well, Jalil knew better than to piss off something that looked like that. "Yes. I'm.. new." And wary. Anyone would be, if they'd just been hugged by the jolly green giant.

They were sitting, and Lorne had ordered some juice. No alcohol in this one, which was sad but que sera sera. C'est la vie. So on and so forth.

"Simply because you don't know the rules doesnt' mean that there aren't rules. Or, conversely, nothing has rules." He chuckled, "The world is a messy, messy place. Beautiful messes and disastrous results. And we don't make the rules."

But we break them and make our own.

So said the vampire champion in his own head.

"There are rules. I'm not pretending to know what the rules are wherever these --" People came from. But he didn't finish the sentence, because he didn't want to give away anything.. too much. He didn't need people asking questions. He didn't need people talking to him at all.

I do believe I DID. xD not_kermit February 18 2009, 22:58:25 UTC
"It's a different game here. The rules aren't hard and fast, because we still come from places with our own rules. But the town has rules of its own. And it's less likely to talk about those rules than that adorable Britney Spears is likely to talk about her Mickey Mouse Club days."

Lorne loved music. Pretty much all of it. So yes. He knew Britney just as well as he did Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr.

DID NOT. a_dirty_obseven February 19 2009, 01:03:51 UTC
The green demon didn't just say something about Brittany Spears. He stared at him a long moment - he was from the past, remember. She wasn't the headcase back then that she was now. But Lorne didn't know that much about Jalil.. very secretive, and for good reason, this boy.

"While you may prefer to be humorous, I'd prefer if the conversation stayed on a more serious train of thought."
