It was rather awesome, being able to talk with someone who could actually understand what he was going through. Casey and Sarah had known, of course, but they couldn't feel what Chuck was feeling, no matter how much time they'd spent with him.

Answering her question, though, was a bit more difficult.

"There was this guy, Bryce- he was my best friend, back in college," Chuck began. "One day, I get this random email from him. I open it, and next thing I know it's 12 hours later, and I'm waking up on the floor of my room, with this thing in my brain," Chuck grimaced, pointing to his head.

He sighed, thinking a moment.

"The worst part is I have no control over it. The second I see anything that has any connection up here, these words and images just start flashing in front of my eyes. I can't do a thing about it," he frowned, shaking his head. "It sucks."

"Oh, I will," Chuck nodded, in response to her request for him to come back. When she apologized yet again, he held up his hand, shaking his head.

"Really, Clarice, it's ok, I promise," he said kindly. "Your good advice completely made up for it!" And really, in his mind, it was more than a fair trade off.

Taking the change, Chuck smiled at Clarice.

"It was really nice to meet you."

"Y-you too," Clarice said shyly, and her blush deepened. "I mean, I said that already. But... it was. And if I really said something that could help you, then... I'm glad."

She couldn't really take credit. Considering her grasp of computers was about what you'd expect for a teenager suddenly confronted with technology about a decade and a half more advanced than anything she'd seen before. She'd had several months to get accustomed to it, but she was still only a very basic user, and certainly not in a position to know anything about advanced computers that could impress themselves in someone's brain. It was really an 'out of the mouths of babes' situation.

"I hope - I mean, I guess, I'll see you around? Did you hear about the Valentine's Day party? Lulu is helping arrange it, so..." So Clarice was helping with the helping. "Did she tell you?"

This was the first Chuck had heard about a dance, so it was obviously just a topic he and Lulu hadn't managed to bring up!

"No, we must have skipped over that," he smiled. "I- I'm really not all that great at parties," Chuck admitted. "But if you guys are organizing it-" well, then, that was a different story, wasn't it?

"Oh, I'm not," Clarice demurred quickly. "I mean, Captain Harkness is organizing it mostly, and Lulu's helping him... I'm just giving Lulu a hand, a little bit." She blushed. "I don't - I mean, I'm not any good at parties either. But Lulu, she loves them. She always wants to make sure everybody has fun." Even Clarice, and that was enough of a challenge for anyone.

Chuck smiled as Clarice stammered, still finding her blushing shyness really adorable.

"Well, maybe I'll come, and we can be bad at parties together," Chuck suggested, smiling a bit shyly himself. "And then Lulu can make sure we have fun, so she'll be happy, too."

Clarice gave a tiny smile. "Lulu would probably love that," she admitted. "I'd... like it too. So - so I'll see you there?"

Chuck blushed a little- was he really agreeing to go to a dance???

He looked up at Clarice, though, who was smiling hopefully, and couldn't help but smile back.

"I'll see you there," he repeated, nodding. And before he could say something to screw this all up, Chuck waved and quickly left the bakery.

"Nice to meet you, Clarice," he called back, hoping the flush in his cheeks had faded a bit.
