Ah...but, admittedly, one has to realize that those haters are just...hopeless in the first place. They would hate Kaname even if he didn't do anything wrong, so it's not really a matter of what he did wrong, but what they think of him (which would be negative even if he was the great character he is).

Indeed. It's the same as asking myself why I don't even bother with Zero -- to be quite honest, though, why do people keep thinking his life has no meaning without Yuuki around him? It's like... Yuuki has to be with Zero because he has no one else in his life. Parents dead. His brother died. Friends... can't even be called friends. That's not affection. That's pity.
