Finally... the Reception...

This entire week is absolutely exhausting. Between the stress of announcing Ginny’s pregnancy, and making preparations for the reception, things are almost to the breaking point.

“Charlie! Bill! Oh will you two stop that!”

I walk out to find that the entirety of the tables for the reception are in the middle of a very splintery war. Several casualties already litter the ground and many more are being dragged off to the furniture infirmary.

“Oh for Merlin’s sake, you two are just making more work!” I say, marching out into the middle of the battlefield. Charlie yelps and sends his wand arcing through the air. A moment later I hear a loud crunching in the distance, followed by some unsavoury words from my second eldest and peels of laughter from my eldest.

“Mum, what were you doing? You could have gotten hit!” Charlie gasps after I tell him off for his choice of words.

“Well, I wouldn’t have had to worry about being hit if you two were doing what you were supposed to be doing instead of breaking up all the furniture ( ... )

I sigh as I set some of the croquettes on one of the tables. I can understand why Ginny preferred to elope, even if it did mean that I missed seeing her marry. I was the typical witch growing up, parading around in Mum’s white wedding robes and carrying flowers and planning every detail of the perfect wedding. But eloping with Arthur was wonderful in its own way because that special occasion was something between just the two of us. And when I looked into his eyes that day, I felt as if I were wearing a field of daisies in my hair and the finest robes a witch could wish for. Because I had the finest wizard by my side ( ... )

I watch each of the boys seating the guests at the table for the feast after they come through the reception line. Too bad Molly and I never did this. I know she wanted it, even though she said she didn’t. But it was a different time then ( ... )

It has been quite a week, between the preparations, invitations, arrangements. Then to add Ginny’s news and my…well…discover of the magnitude of Ron’s and Hermione’s relationship, it’s been something else, indeed ( ... )
