MOD ANNOUNCEMENT(S)

The poll results are in! According to the votes:
ATARAXION IS MOVING TO DREAMWIDTH.

ataraxion | ataraxioff | ataraxionlogs | ataraxionooc

MOVING MECHANICS:

→ We will be transferring all community entries to Dreamwidth on the 1st of February, so if you have a thread in progress on the Livejournal communities, please be aware that not all comments may transfer to the Dreamwidth communities. (Threads can be continued on Dreamwidth at the time of Game Reopen, however!)
→ The game will officially open for play on Dreamwidth at midnight EST on January 15th, when the January app round closes. Several elements of the communities may still be under construction during that week, but we will endeavor to complete the move in as timely a manner as possible.
→ We will be accepting applications on both Livejournal and Dreamwidth for this round, due to both the short notice of this announcement, and the fact that Livejournal is completely inaccessible for many players.
→ HMD will go up January 5th on Dreamwidth.
→ Just a warning, but the app week is likely going to be slow due to the move. We will work as fast as we possibly can to process applications, but it may take some time.

MOVING AND YOU:

→ Dreamwidth has extended the open account creation dates with an unannounced closing date, and open account creation without codes is still an option. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity if you haven’t already! For future app rounds, however, we will have an official Dreamwidth invite codes for accepted players who need them. We can also provide Dreamwidth codes for players if necessary during this round.
→ For those of you who have submitted plots and item requests that have been thus far unanswered, you will need to re-comment in the appropriate areas. Outstanding FAQ questions will be answered here on LJ, but any new questions should be directed to the DW mod journal FAQ page.
→ If you have submitted an application and have been accepted into the game, please make sure a copy of that application is available on your Dreamwidth journal. (It’s not necessary to comment to the application page again.)
→ You will need to comment to the new Taken page with your character’s Dreamwidth journals.
→ Much of this mod announcement will be repeated on a Dreamwidth OOC post.
→ Please refrain from doing anything IC on the Dreamwidth communities until the 15th. We will not be accepting join requests to the logs comm, the network comm, or the crack comm until that time.

MOVING TIMELINE:

→ JANUARY 5th. OOC post and HMD.

→ JANUARY 8th. Apps open, reserves close.

→ JANUARY 15th. Apps close, reserves reopen, the game reopens.

→ JANUARY 24-30th. Activity check. Activity from both LJ and DW will be accepted in this instance only.

→ FEBRUARY 1st. Official end of LJ backtagging. The game will now run on Dreamwidth only. All comments from the LJ communities will be imported.

DREAMWIDTH RESOURCES:FAQs.

→ The official Dreamwidth FAQ for LJ Users. This is slightly out of date, but still helpful!
relle at Dreamwidth has made an RPers Guide to Dreamwidth! This has some helpful comparisons of Livejournal and Dreamwidth’s services, as well as answers to some common questions.
sky at Dreamwidth has assembled a general Dreamwidth linkdump for people who are new to the service.

VISUAL RESOURCES.

vestiges at Dreamwidth has some lovely layouts based on the Tabula Rasa layout.
starlit at Dreamwidth has also made an illustrated guide on how to install Livejournal layouts on Dreamwidth using custom layers, for those of you who want to keep your LJ layouts! (Please note that Expressive and Mixit are the same style, but the name varies from LJ to DW.)

GENERAL RESOURCES.

esper on Dreamwidth has some helpful table coding advice! Be aware, however, that this table coding will only work in journal entries, not in profile pages. In order to make tables work in Dreamwidth profiles, the table coding generally needs to start with
[tbody]
your table here
[/tbody]
, replaced with the appropriate brackets. YouTube embeds are, as far as we know, still pretty glitchy on Dreamwidth.
Tropospherical Blue is essentially a Stylish addon for Firefox and Chrome that mimics the blue-on-white layout of the original Livejournal layout. This requires both the Greasemonkey (or equivalent) and Stylish plugins for Firefox and Chrome; links to install those and a FAQ about the userstyle can be found here on the maker’s journal.
→ There is also a paid account donation page on Dreamwidth. If you’d like to either donate or receive paid time on Dreamwidth, this is the place to do it!

Finally, we apologize for all the confusion this situation has caused and for the short notice of this announcement. If all goes well, the game can resume as normal with little to no problems after the transfer. On a purely personal note, we’d like to thank you for sticking with us on this, and providing us with all of your amazing support and discussion; we know that a move is difficult, but we appreciate your support. If there’s anything we can do to make this transition easier for you, please let us know!

Here is a PLURK PASTE for players unable to access LJ. Spread it around!
