[Oh boy, puzzles. Brennunburg is chock full of tedious puzzles. Of course he usually makes the servants solve them to get around but let's see how sharp his old mind still is.]

Joker, heart, club, spade, diamond. Is this correct?

[Now all they need is a LeChuck and they could form a support network.]

I'm afraid not. Would you like a hint?

And I believe we have not met before, though I could be mistaken about this.

[NO PUBLICLY HUMILIATED ALL OVER THE NETWORK. Because the mun COMPLETELY MISSED STEP TWO. OH GOD.]

Hmm. It seems I misread clues in the first place. The text on these devices is unfortunately hard on my eyes.

I don't believe we have. I am Alexander.

You're not the first to say that. My acquaintance prefers to not use these devices if she can help it. [A bit of a white lie, but Claire won't mind, right?

I'm Clive. It's a pleasure to meet you, though I wish the circumstances were different.

[ A puzzle! Chase can't hide her excitement. She immediately perks up. ]

Let me think. Hang on....

[ after a few seconds of working it out on her brain, she finally asks: ]

Is the joker second to the left?

[Oh wow, hello small child.]

Correct. Well done. You like puzzles, I take it?

[even as a human, he still has a robot's thought patterns. logic puzzles are somehow soothing.]

Is the Joker between the diamond and the heart, order going: diamond-joker-heart-club-spade?

[whatever those names meant]

Correct. Now if only the puzzle we're in was forthcoming with its answers.

If we keep working at it, we'll get it. Every problem has a solution, and there are intelligent people here. Humans are remarkably resourceful and adaptable.

I know this is a rather random question, you wouldn't by any chance know a Professor Hershel Layton, would you?

Diamond, joker, heart, club, spade... that would make the joker the second card from the left.

Right you are. Have you learned anything new since when last we spoke?

I haven't found any casebreaking evidence of foul play in the corridors, if that's what you mean. This ship is immense; if it weren't for the fact that it was also almost totally empty, I might willingly believe it was a colony ship.

That just makes me wonder how long it will be before we end up suffering the same fate as our predecessors.

That's one way of solving things. I'd offer you another puzzle but you don't strike me as the type who're that interested in them.
