So, I've finished one of my photo challenges. skorzy wanted to see our pantry. Well, we actually have two: a large wardrobe thing, and a build-in pantry, so I took photos of both.

Behind the cut. Yes, we eat Hamburger Helper sometimes. )

I said "where" when I should have said "how"! Whenever I find something even slightly exotic (penne con vodka sauce for example) it ends up being a Sin Against Humanity (alternatively, Nature).

PS: how the orange slay the rake?

The salad looks amazing! Watermelon always seems to go very good with savory, for some reason (like with feta and black olives.) It is a good light taste that is very applicable to many flavours.

And I see you feed Merrick! Those are yummy foods - my cats get them as a treat sometimes. I also see some Innova - I've heard of that food but it kind of scares me b/c the protein level is so high and high proteins can sometimes cause kidney problems. It seems equivalent to an Atkins diet, in a way. :)

Yeah, the cats love Merrick. And I love the fact that we can feed them "turducken" or "California roll."

The high protein was a concern until we talked to our vet. Basically, because our cats have such a wide range of ages (2, 4 and 11) we need both high and low protein... but we really can't do that. He said that until Jaws actually starts developing symptoms of kidney problems, we'll be ok, and that a high protein diet won't hasten any kidney problems. It's likely that she'll develop thyroid problems before the food causes kidney problems, in which case we'll have to change food anyway. (It's apparently a very common problem in elderly cats.)

Even still, once we're done with this bag we're going to test drive the Wellness Indoor formula, just to see if they like it. We'll still have another bag of Innova, but finding something that all three like is a BIG challenge. -.-

I hear ya! I have a more active male cat with eating preferences and a smaller more "tubby" female who horcks down everything like its her last meal. It's difficult to satisfy everyone! :D

Look for foods that contain "L-Cartinine" - it's a sort of "multi-cat" ingredient that helps bigger/older cats burn fat and more active cats build muscle. :) I like Nutro myself (not just b/c I work for them but because I actually used the product and liked it a LOT!) .. I find the ingredients are fantastic, all natural, premium, and its affordable, too. For special dinners I give them the Merrick canned food (Ryan cries b/c he can't have Turducken!) and Performatrim Ultra Chicken Stew canned food. On normal days they get Nutro canned food (totally safe..weren't affected by the recall.)

Let me know if you want to try Nutro - I have lots of samples left from our Trade Show in Kenora (and I collect tons of coupons, too.. just like a good Winnipeger :P)
