I had the same reaction as your friend, but figured it was probably to late to scrap the mission.

I never thought of having him run into Jack again in 1941 - great idea and well written.

This was gorgeous and sad and hot. I also fall on the court martial after the mission side, because seriously, trained pilots were too valuable.

I love this ending. The interesting thing is looking at how history changed because of that kiss, and that dance (and dancing as always been a metaphor for something else when it comes to Jack), and how it turned out so much for the better for him, how he got a happy ending after all. I think that I'm going to pretend this is how it really happened now. Wonderful.
