It's Lehane's most ambitious book to date and I am really impressed with it. I gobbled the rest of the book (about 580 pages of it) in one sitting. the earthquake is in "one" part of indonesia. since we are pretty much a huge country - it is nowhere near jakarta, where i live

if you see news about earthquake in Jakarta, then you can worry :)

Okay good.

It was on the CNN student news. And they didn't specify where in Indonesia & the stupid map they showed highlighted the WHOLE country! Jakarta is south of Indonesia right? Yea they highlighted it too, so that's why I didn't know what to think.

well, not really. jakarta is in the island of Java and it is on the upper part. while the earthquake happened in the island of Sulawesi. in fact, CNN reported that "The epicenter was nearly 1,900 kilometers east-northeast of Jakarta, the capital" ... 1,900 kilometers, that's quite far.

yeah, i know that foreign media tends to highlight the whole country when talking about indonesia. but my country is very huge -- very big. one incident in one city in one island, does not necessarily affect other islands.

I am not familiar with that author at all, I have to say, but you make him sound really good so I'll have to remember his name so I can check him out sometime soon. You actually make me want to read more books again :D

well, if you like to watch movies, the movies "Mystic River" and "Gone, Baby, Gone" are both based on Dennis Lehane's books. He is SO GOOD. i am in love with his writings.
