Anyone you know in trouble from the Australian fires?

It's odd how few people have heard of it, given that is was so much larger than the Chicago fire. But Chicago was a bustling town full or reporters, while news coming out of northern Wisconsin was slow. It took a long time for people to realize just how much had burned. News stories would have trickled out, just a note here and a note there in various papers, never a big splashy headline like the New York papers had right away with the Chicago fire.

Myself and a few friends of mine have family down there, at least one family I know has lost their house and all that they own. I'm glad to be a couple states away from the worst of it, but the flash flooding in northern Queensland is hitting that area pretty badly too. I'm going to pimp the Red Cross Australia link here too, as I have been everywhere else, I hope you don't mind. We could really use any help that people are inclined to give.

I think their website might be a little overwhelmed at the moment, I just got "site unavailable" trying to visit the Red Cross link. If it's working later I'll add it to my message. I hope conditions improve quickly. Seems like their are weather problems all over right now.
