[Odette is shuffling around her room. She can probably be heard singing. Then suddenly...

QUACK!

She shoos the duck away.]

Oh, Guinevere. Get away from there.

Sorry everyone. Anyway~ I would like to know how our newcomers are getting along? Everyone adjusting to the ship?

[Except you, Rothbart. She doesn't care about you.]

Decently. I've only been punched in the face once.

[He sounds far too amused when he says this, kinda like he enjoyed it.]

What was that sound just now?

Oh no. Are you okay?

[She's holding the duck and it's quacking softly in her arms.]

That was my duck, Guinevere.

I'm fine.

[Slight pause.]

You haven't seen any other birds around, have you?

[He's being nice in the name of finding out about something we all know isn't there... but he won't accept just yet.]

Good. Glad to hear it.

No. Not that I've seen.

[Nevermind that she turns into a bird after the moon sets.]

Odette?

[This is the sound of an awkward Phoenix.]

You... aren't missing a cousin, by chance, are you?

QUACK!

[Odette giggles.]

You have a duck too? Ducks and swans are related, I think. But I'm not missing any relatives.

Ah. I'm not familiar with either species, and it looked similar-

QUACK!

Mar damn it, no, don't you-!

[The sounds of furious flapping and quacking can be heard in the background. Then a clatter as Phoenix drops the comm. This continues for at least a minute before Phoenix comes back, sounding distinctly disgruntled.]

I have no idea how to deal with this thing, and I do not think it enjoys my company, either. Do you have any suggestions as to who or where I can take it to?

[Oh dear.]

Sounds mismatch.

[Odette would take the duck. But she's worried she wouldn't be able to care for two of them.]

You could ask the network. If you can't find anyone to take it, I will.

Maybe

Next time

You could try a more upbeat tune? Ballads are great an' all, but you

You could really kill a fast number.

[A duck. What even. She heard the captains... interesting punishments, but she's still mildly puzzled.]

You named the creature Guinevere? Any particular reason?

I was going to name her William.

[After her father.]

But Captain Redd told me she is a girl and Guinevere was the first name that came to mind.

I suppose you could have called her William, too, in an act of novelty.

Still, Guinevere is a very pretty name for a... duck, I suppose.

[She chuckles.]

It wouldn't have been the same.

I think she likes it.
