Big Read List

Nov 30, 2008 19:15

Hmm...someone sent me this list of the 100 most loved books and asked how many I've read. Apparently the average person has only read 6 of them. I did better than that at 65 and have no plans or desire to read those I haven't read yet (those in black). A lot of childrens books from when I was no longer a child and some of these I've never heard of ( Read more... )

Okay that explains it. Is she still publishing? I learned to read at three and stopped reading children's books in first grade, which was in 1988 so I have read very few children's books from past then unless they had crossover appeal or to a child I was taking care of. This seems to be a very UK-centric list. It must have been a poll of the British.

I always wanted to be a twin. I was fascinated by the sweet valley high books when I was small. Dunno if you read them? Am I aging myself even more?

I'm not sure. There are fairly new copies of her books out but I don't know if she's written any new ones.

I haven't read the sweet valley high books. I think they were before my time (gosh, that makes me seem way too young!).

They were kind of over even when I was small but I think they brought them back again about ten years ago. There was a tv show and everything with Brittany Daniels and her twin.

Jacqueline Wilson, if you are referring to the same author I am thinking of, is a children's author. Because she's British she's not terribly well known in the United States (at least not where I live). I've read a few of her books but I didn't like any of them. The one that I read about twins was unrealistic and unlike the behavior of any twins I've ever met (I have a twin sister and I know many sets of twins).
