"Random?" asks a quiet little flat voice from near the door of the hut. If Random remembers the other times he's caught the rare Basic word from a Minicon he'll have a good guess of who is calling him.
Random starts as the quiet voice startles him from his thoughts, and he turns to look at the source. He visibly relaxes when he sees that it's just one of the Minicons. "Jetstorm? What is it?"
"Yeah, but that's not what I was talking about." Hot Shot pulls himself up and looks at what Random's looking at, his expression dropping slightly. "Mech... I didn't realize there was that much crud in there."
Crud in there, there is indeed. And the wire that broke seems to have done so due to corrosion caused by the acid in the swamp water getting in through a break in its covering.
"Then what were you talking about?" Random scoops up some of said "crud," looks at it and then examines the broken wire. ". . . That would do it. X-Wings weren't made for that kind of underwater plunges."
"Well, I was right about the wire, right?" Hot Shot gently pats the little ship as though in apology for parking it in such a bad spot and then taking so long to figure out how to extract it.
"Heh. It's not like I haveta look good for anyone." Hot Shot turns the vacuum handle side forward. "And even if I did, we need the X-Wing working more than I need to look like a holo-star."
Random, still somewhat sobered by the earlier revelation, does not quip back a comment about Hot Shot possibly having to look good for someone in the future.
He reluctantly takes the vacuum handle. "Y-You maybe right."
"Of course I'm right. Huh? Oh sheeeeeeesh, what're you guys doing now?" The young jedi slips off the X-Wing and hurries to see what the three Minicons are doing in the mud at the edge of the island.
Back where he'd coaxed Billy into spitting out Runway, Thundercracker is watching Hot Shot with an absent but knowing and compassionate expression. Billy himself is no where to be seen.
Random looks after him before turning back to the electrical components. "Of course he is. Everything's . . . gonna be alll right. . . . Now how did I get to thinking about the future again?" Random intook deeply and released air before getting about trying out the vacuum on the mud. Not even thinking about where Billy might have gone.

And then there's the question of how to make sure the crud doesn't do anything future, but that can wait a few minutes.
