A Pretender Walks Into A Diner...

OK, here's the intoabar fic, in its finished form! I feel like there's a lot I could say about this story, and why it felt like it was kicking my ass for a while, and so on. But it's probably better to just let it speak for itself. So:

Title: Stories Yet Untold
Author: astrogirl2
Prompt: Jarod walks into a bar and meets... Mr. Gold!
Fandoms: The Pretender/Once ( Read more... )

once upon a time fic, pretender fic

Excellent! You still have Jarod's voice, clear and perfect, and Gold's, as well. I could hear and see them speaking, see Granny, as if I were watching an excerpt from a crossover. Kudos, Astro!

Thank you! Getting the voices right was probably the single easiest part of writing this thing. :)

Ooh. Oooh, this is lovely in just exactly the right way. Sadly, now I am craving a serious crossover. Nicely done, especially Gold's voice, which was pitch-perfect.

Thank you! I cannot help feeling that Gold somehow should have had more to say in order to make this whole thing worthwhile, but getting his voice right on the stuff he does say is certainly something I can feel happy about. :)

And there really does seem to be so much crossover potential there, doesn't there? I'd love to read a more substantial one, myself, but as to whether I'm up to writing it, well... :)

Heh. Jarod would probably be the one person not surprised by the Storybrooke situation. I'd love to see what he'd make of it all!

You have Snarly!Gold down perfectly. :D

Thank! I think Gold has reason to be particularly snarly at this point in the canon.

And Jarod in Storybrooke really is such a fun idea, isn't it? He really would just take to it easily, I think. Not least because it's pretty much the Town of Parent-Child issues. :)

Wow. Gold is PERFECT. Love this interaction between the two of them, and the play on how Gold assumes a fairy-tale history for Jarod (that's almost true without being true at all)? Hilarious.

Thanks! I admit, the idea that, well, of course Rumpelstiltskin would be kind of a problematic fairy tale for Jarod amused me a lot. :)
