Some Yuletide Recs

I've been having a lovely time dipping in and out of the Yuletide stories. Here's a few I thought were particularly good:

"With One Eye Open" (Aliens): The third movie be damned, this is much more like what should have happened to Ripley, Newt, Bishop and Hicks. In fact, as far as I'm concerned, it's something much more like this that did happen

I KNOW. Slings was the first fandom I ran to when I opened the Yuletide page, and this was the first fic I read, and it was just the ideal way to start my Yuletide spree. *goes off to read the recs*

Just seeing the list of characters makes me want to read the Calvin and Hobbes story. It occurs to me that Rosalyn would make a good companion for the Doctor. If she can cope with Calvin (and she is the only person who really can) then she can cope with anything.

Thanks for the Deadwood rec; I do miss that show! Though of course it would be long since gone even if they had got the arc-completing fourth season. When I have a bit of time, I must rewatch.

I was glad to see that story there. I'm not hugely fannish about the show, but I did quite enjoy it, and I was even vaguely considering requesting Jane fic in my fourth slot... until I realized that she wasn't one of the nominated characters. I'm glad she got a look-in, anyway.

Wasn't that hilarious? I think it captured the show remarkably well. I really must go back and re-watch some of that sometime. :)

Did someone ask for a Slings and Arrows/Muppets crossover? Because that's both brilliant and demented.

I don't know. My guess is that they asked for S&A and the Muppets, and the writer decided to cross them over. But if they did ask for that, they have my amused respect. :)
