The afterlife idea was totally schmaltzy, but I can forgive that, because they actually made me cry for Jack Shephard. I've hated that character for almost six seasons and they made me cry for his death. That's quite an achievement.

I'm so glad Hurley got the job, because he's really the best one to do it, and I'm glad he got Ben for help. I'm also glad Frank, Miles, Claire, Des, Sawyer, Kate and Richard got to go home, and I hope one of them manages to care for Ji Yeon, instead of letting her grow up with Sun's horrible parents. At least let Hurley look out for her.

I'm horrible sentimental about this whole thing. I don't even care if the episode was good or made any sense. I can't imagine the show is gone now.

I didn't cry, but, y'know, there was one point in here were I found myself observing, aloud, "Damn it, how have you made me actually like Jack Shepard at this late date?!" And even if he did manage one last screw-up, what with going along with the "let's lower Desmond down into the magic cave" thing, I think I finally kind of respect him, which is something else I haven't felt for him before, really. (And, heck, even having Desmond put the light out seems to have ultimately worked in their favor. I'm assuming that's the reason Smokey suddenly appeared to be much less bulletproof.)

He really, really is. You know he's not going to be kind of an ass about it, like Jacob was. :) I do still worry about him. It's kind of a tough, lonely life. But I feel a little better knowing he has Ben. Which is a weird thing to say, but it's true.

and I hope one of them manages to care ( ... )

Yeah! I mean, I never got heavily into Lost fandom or anything, but I got the definite impression that for quite a while now, the standard reaction to anybody saying, "Hey, what if they're actually dead?" is to smile and say, "You're new here, aren't you?" So, yes. Tricky and sneaky and hilarious. :)

Yeah, they totally pulled a Narnia here at the end, but I really liked it. The only big questions I had at the end was "but what about Walt?!" and...well, there was another one but I've forgotten it now because everything else was so cool.

I do think the island was "Eden" as in garden of, which is probably going to give you religious hives, but it's something that's been worrying me.

When the final scenes were happening, and I saw Jack offering the "job" to Hurley, and Ben there, I really started thinking Ben would be the new Smokey, and I so did NOT WANT that now, and not just for Hurley's sake, but also for Ben's.

Also...yes, the fact that limbo/purgatory ended up being the flash sideways world when they kept insisting no the island wasn't purgatory and the plane crash didn't kill me totally cracked me up. Oh you twisted writers.

At least they kept their promise about Vincent.

I'm sure I have a million of them, but they're still mostly not surfacing. :)

Eh, the whole afterlife thing is in more danger of giving me religious hives, really. But the whole thing's fantasy, anyway. It's very mystical and symbolic and stuff, and ultimately it's just a TV show, so whatever. :) And I dunno, the Garden of Eden might be one of the things it is, in its mystical, symbolic way, but I think I'm happy with not pinning it down too far.

It crossed my mind for a moment, too. But Ben really has had quite a character arc this season, and I don't think, deep down, that I ever ( ... )

Back when Season 6 was premiering, the writers gave one spoiler, that Vincent would survive the finale. (Naveem Andrews joked that the end would be the dog getting rescued and everyone else dead on the island buried on Boot hill).

It's always nice when the dog lives. And I guess Andrews wasn't actually that far wrong. :)

We may know a lot more about how it works, but we don't know anything more about why.

Heh. I have a background in physics, myself, and I work in astronomy (although not as a scientist), and I almost ended that bit with "Just like the real world," because I was totally thinking about physics and astronomy and science in general when I wrote it. :)

You did! I should have had more faith in Lapidus. That guy is just too awesome to die! :)
