Also I thought the village was cut off - or did the Angels replace it when the Doctor allowed herself to be taken? If so how did Yaz and co escape.

Why is the date scattered that way?

Ah now I see the reason for the Williams plot device.

How did the Grand serpent avoid the Doctor (Pertwee etc)

Well I suppose if it is your last roll of the dice going for Epic is understandable but Chibnall is not making a very good job of it at all!

I know the answer to none of these questions. :)

And I do understand the temptation to go Epic. It's not even the worst thing in the world to indulge it once in a while, but maybe not quite to this extent? Mind you, I'd probably be less eye-rolly about it if I didn't already hate the whole Timeless Child thing in the first place.

I'll give Chibnall quite a bit of credit for failing through being over-ambitious rather than being under-ambitious and producing something bland.
