A New Fandom And A (Sort Of) New Bingo Card

Welcome, folks, to my newest fannish obsession! I just recently finished playing the video game Disco Elysium (despite, overall, not being very much of a video-gamer), and it's been kind of eating my brain in that way that, perhaps, can only be excised by the catharsis of writing fic. A new fandom is a lot of fun, yes :) I'm not ready to write for mine yet (I'm a little daunted by the way a lot of fans study up and use and discuss the cultural aspects of Chinese writing, Chinese history, Chinese nomenclature Chinese... then I remind myself, the original author included potatoes in ancient magical China).

Sounds like a good game, even though I am hopeless at all video games harder than, ummm.... solitaire.

When I had to study a video game for one of my genre fiction subjects, they suggested we all simply go to youtube as there were full runthoughs uploaded there. So I did. I don't think I could've played the game (and it wasn't really my stylke) but it was oddly interesting watching someone else play it.

You don't actually have to replay the whole thing yourself, hooray!

I confess, after I finished this particular game, I also went and found someone who did a playthrough of it, and have been watching that -- slowly, in bits and pieces, because it's a long game -- and it's been really interesting to see some of the ways things can play out differently, even if you're taking mostly the same approach. (Like, holy crap, that's what happens if you succeed at that thing I failed at? I had no idea ( ... )
