EXCUSE ME?!?! Because I'm Pregnant?

Sep 19, 2007 14:41

Where do I start? I'm pregnant, therefore my current employer won't hire me to a permanent position. Hmmmm...but they have no problem offering me a job "after the baby is born". I can't believe the VP (my now again boss) was so stupid to actually tell me that. ...like she couldn't have come up with some better excuse, such as budget or something ( Read more... )

Wanna paint or move stuff Saturday?

I'm offering up to cook a full pan of lasagna for whoever helps us move stuff from the storage unit to our garage. :D ...and I'm putting up tape to redo the trim in Nubins' room in pastel sage.

Wow, what a dumb VP. I'm pretty sure that's 10 kinds of illegal!

I'm sure....but it would take 8-12+ months to file a complaint with the EOCC and then it's just her word against mine. Already checked into what my options are....and it's not worth my time for a job I don't want anyways. I'm just more offended than anything.

I'm pretty sure it's part of the reason our new manager quit. She was here a whole 7 days.

Gah. I saw the other post you made about this a while ago. It still gets me mad. I wish there was something you could do, that didn't take forever (ie EEOC). That's just a bunch of unnecessary stress. Are you not giving them 2 weeks notice? I don't think they deserve it, but the temp agency you're working with may frown on that. Just a thought.

Nope, gave my boss about a 7 hour notice via email. Shitty, I know. I feel like I broke up with someone's answering machine. She didn't even bother to respond or acknowledge my email - not surprising. ...not that they (the company) deserved any loyalty.

The temp agency has known since July that I haven't been happy there and I've been asking them since then to place me somewhere else. I spoke with my recruiter there last week about everything that was going on. She said to see what happened and she would call me on Monday - well, she never did. So they weren't really taking care of things on their end either. I called them yesterday and told them it was my last day and they were like "Oh, so you're available for other assignments then?" YUPPERS! I was available a few months ago. Monday they want me to come in to meet with them and give them the DL on what happened.

Are you going to try to get something until your little one arrives, or just wait it out? I hope all goes well with the office on Monday. They better do right by you, damnit!

We'll see. Perhaps if there are some short-term gigs that don't involve bending over or being on my feet a ton. *shrugs* I'm fine just staying home too though.

Pregnancy discrimination.... ask her if she's heard of it. It's not like you are making a new human or anything important while working your butt off.

Sounds like you have done your work with the EOCC etc, but maybe you don't want to work with them anyways. Probably why the other manager quit, like you had said. Sorry hon, I know you have had troubles with work related things....

How is Nubins doing? When will Nubins arrive again?

*sigh* I did the right thing for me. I can't bring this baby into the world and teach him to stick up for himself, while I let someone push me around.

Nubins is doing great! Too great? I'm so "done" being pregnant. *L* The only cure for pregnancy acne & edema: birth. So I'm ready for that cure. Oh well, hopefully things will be easier to tolerate now that I'll be at home. Do I qualify for the title "SAHM" (Stay at home mom) yet? :D

How is the pregnancy going for you? I'm seriously thinking about looking into classes for my masters....or to at least improve my chances at landing a job in clinical research. Any suggestions?

Pregnancy is going well! I haven't felt bad the whole time (knock on wood), but I'm having some minor back pain that is relieved by me not wearing heels. Minor issue, though! I've felt some movements - flutters, not kicks, which has been very interesting! It's not every day, but at random times I'll just feel something going on there. Very cool ( ... )
