Oh my god, how did I not know that Johnny Capps and Julian Jones are producing a new genre show for the Beeb, called Atlantis?

Seeing as normally Merlin would start up its fall Season again soonish, I wondered if the Beeb had any costume drama replacement for it. And sure enough, brought to you from the guys who thouroughly slaughtered one of the ( Read more... )

I know, though to be forewarned is to be forearmed.

Shows by Capps and Jones are probably enjoyable if you don`t really care that much for the characters on a deeper level.

Yep. I wonder if they manage to get a good cast though as they did for Merlin. I think good Merlin cast was at least half of series success.

I honestly have no interest in watching Atlantis. It sounds like Merlin 2.0 and since it's made by the same people, I really don't feel like watching them make the same mistakes again.

I think I will replace Merlin with The Three Musketeers come fall. Especially since Santiago Cabrera, Merlin's Lancelot, is playing Aramis there. The bits in BBC's Original Drama trailer looked fantastic.

I`m undecided about checking the new show out (the pics don`t entice me but it was the same way back when with Merlin, if I`m honest). I have no doubt they WILL make the same mistakes all over again, simply because they never understood what they did wrong in the first place.

But the problem with Merlin was that there was enough profoundness I fell in love with the characters so it hurt to see the writing fall apart for them. Maybe this new show can be enjoyed as a simply mindless guilty pleasure.

I think I will replace Merlin with The Three Musketeers come fall.

Oh, I plan to check this out for sure. I`m a sucker for period drama and especially any kind of swordfighting/fencing/dueling stuff.

I saw a poster and was immediately bored. I am sure this wasn't the reaction they were going for. I usually enjoy bbc shows, so I am willing to give it a chance. But so far every bit of information I've come across just put me off further...sigh.

I miss season 1 Merlin.

I miss Merlin in general. As disappointed as I was over the wasted potential of Season 5 in particular and the entire show in general, it feels weird to have no new episodes this year.

Somehow it strikes me more final now than it did after the actual Finale episode. Because there would have been the usual 9 months hiatus no matter what. But new stuff would be coming out soon and instead we`re getting this "hey, if we could have done it, this would be totally Merlin Season 6 but instead it`s called Atlantis" thing. Hm.

Season 5 was a total let down. Well, I could have lived with season 5 is they had done one out of two things: either give us a season 6 where we actually see the legend being build, as in everything Arthus is supposed to be famous for because as far as I am concerned, we were still in the young stages of the kingdom when they ended it.

Or give us a season 6 in our times as they teased with the ending. They actually had a pretty good set up there to continue the show and still make it a completely new one...quite brilliant...

But since they chose not to do anything, it just sucked.

And you are right. Merlin would be coming back right now...it is kind of like a hole...Atlantis just doesn't sound right. Sigh.
