Hee! Forgotten what it's like to be a parent, Billy-boy? Or didn't you ever really know? I could see that, given he amusement at being oddly content ... in this strange little domestic scene.
Amazing how quickly and completely he can turn his view of someone around, forgetting first impressions now that he has information. When Bill Adama commits himself to something, he does it whole-heartedly.

Hah, I somehow can't see Bill as having been a particularly hands-on parent to Lee and Zak. I should think he probably wasn't around enough to have done all that kind of thing.

He sure does. And then convinces himself that that was how he felt all along. Partiuclarly with Laura. I always found it so interesting towards the beginning when they would argue about something, and he'd go away, and the next minute he was parroting Laura's words at someone else as though they were exactly what he'd felt all along.
I was feeling fluffy, and I like the idea of Laura and Isis together, which they obviously were on New Caprica, but we never really got to see. Glad you like it.
This was another omission I regretted from the series, not just the simple domesticity between Bill and Laura - the easy banter and comfort in each other's company which you have depicted so beautifully here - but a real acknowledgement of Laura's close involvement with Isis/Hera and apparently genuine affection for her
( ... )
I'm glad you liked it. It was so obvious that Laura had such a lot of affection for Isis, and we were never shown it in the series, so I figured it would do nicely for a bit of fluffy goodness for today :)
And yes, Laura should have been shown having more concern for the children of the fleet via schooling at the very least. I was a big omission that that was never mentioned.
