Ok, so, I adore Laura, as everyone here knows, and I have shipped A/R since I first watched the show. Love the relationship between them. I've also always liked the idea of Laura/Lee, and when we all signed up for Ship-Swap, I thought it'd be cool to get some Laura/Lee written because a lot of people were asking for A/R, and sci_fi_shipper wrote me the gorgeous

Wow, this is so them. You know, I can see them having these kind of struggles with their similar-but-different attitudes to idealism and pragmatism, and watching them slowly work through that minefield while still loving each other would be been so good.

I love how Laura hadn't even remembered that the elections were down to Lee. I see Lee as one of the few people whom she almost automatically forgives when he does things she struggles with.

Damn, I'm out of L/L icons. Must go hunting for more.

As someone who came into the fandom as an A/R shipper and has gotten distracted by all sorts of other pairings, I'm happy to report that no one has revoked my A/R shipper card. Yet.

I really like Laura and Lee together in season 1. In the mini, I thought they might actually become a couple but it soon became clear that the writers had other ideas. Still, I can definitely see them together at certain points. And in all sorts of smutty combinations at other times.

Heh, well, I've always been a bit of a multi-shipper where Laura is concerned. I just never quite realised how much. My brain works in mysterious ways sometimes.

The series bible actually suggested that the two of them becoming a couple, or at least, having something happen was originally something the writers were considering, but then I guess they decided against it. Would have been adorable, though.

aaaahaha, I KNOOOOOOOOW. I SHARE IN YOUR MILD SHAME, as you well know. I really want to BE THE CHANGE on them but I haven't latched onto any ideas yet. I think it's tough because Lee is most my Lee in the second half of the show? So getting them there requires piles and piles of angst, which I don't usually have the heart to put on them, or more of an alteration to canon than I feel at all equal to outside of crackfic. Possibly I will return to teen-Laura-and-Lee someday and put them together.

I do take the whole Shevon story as tacit admission of early-season Laura/Lee, or at least him having feelings for her. It's entirely too on-the-nose for me to ignore. So there's that.

I would love to see you have a go at writing it someday. I think your take would be fascinating! And there's very little later season L/L, for obvious reasons, so that could be brilliantly interesting.

Ooo, tell me more about Shevon? I have watched Black Market so rarely that I'm intrigued as to your thoughts about it :)

ha, I mean, I've yet to talk to anyone else who finds merit in the episode so I own my weirdness, but I actually think the first half-hour is conceptually pretty fantastic.

Because - Lee finds himself involved with a more experienced woman; he thinks she likes him but he knows she depends on him to an extent that's probably unfair; he builds himself up as her white knight and puts her way up on a pedestal; convinces himself he's going to be the big rebel and break!his!code! for her (and for justice! and helping the sick! and probably freaking puppies!); then it turns out she's a whole, complicated person who's been pragmatically engaging with the world as it is and it brings his whole fantasy tumbling down.

which could be Black Market, or it could be his entire arc from KLG-RS.

You must write Laura/Lee sometime. Seriously. And we can write cracky teenage!rebel Laura and Lee anytime ♥
