Thanks! I started learning to use a sewing machine when I was pretty young. My mom taught me the basics of how to sew a piece of fabric, etc. As far as modifying clothing, I think the first stuff I did was just alterations for size. Making a t-shirt smaller is pretty basic, and then I moved on to things like making a skirt out of a shirt, adding trim to something, altering the neckline, etc. I've certainly ruined my fair share of stuff, though. I like to buy old sewing books from thrift shops for reference on how to do certain things, and there are all kinds of tutorials and sites for inspiration online. Good luck! -Rachel
