Race report

Apr 19, 2015 23:00

Ran my second half-marathon this morning! The same race I did last year, actually.

Last year's time was about 2:34, so my goal was to run it in 2:30 or less. (Spoiler: I succeeded.)

Cut for those of you who might actually read such things )

YESSSS congrats and good job!

Also, GPS will always come out long -- my rule of thumb is it's off by 1%, so I expect a HM to come in around 13.2 or 13.3, and I could easily believe 13.4 if 1, it's a smartphone and 2, if you didn't run the tangents.

HMs are, in my opinion, first-class endurance events. No shame in never trying a full. :) Do you belong to a track club? That has been key for me speeding up.

I kind of knew that RunKeeper on my phone lied about milage, so I wasn't too surprised. I'd still like to believe in my mile 4 split of 8:59 (mostly downhill, of course).

I don't belong to a track club specifically, but I do belong to local a running club. It really helped because they sent out a weekly training plan for those of us training for the half-marathon, which I managed to follow 85% of the time. I don't know that I have much free time to go to group runs, unfortunately.
