Whee, finally got this knocked into shape, thanks to much help from cesperanza. For the "Grand Tour" challenge on vintagefic, although it's more than a little late.
This is charming and wonderfully in character. I adored the touches of description of Holmes -- so much like canon, where it's only the merest hint of something that could mean so much more.
Wow. When I read the complete Sherlock Holmes when I was fourteen, I read all sorts of things tangentially related to it --lots of stuff on costume and daily life in the 19th century. I really imprinted. This means that it's one of those fandoms where I have a hard time suspending my disbelief if the details and/or characterization don't match up with the picture in my head.
This story was totally, completely and utterly believable to me.
And Holmes in drag! I think that means I've seen boys in dresses (in stories that I like) in all my fandoms now, and that makes me happy. :)
_aerye_ sent me a link to your story. In return, I think I owe her a lunch...
This was the best H/W I've seen in a long time, and I've been into the Master and slash-- though some would argue they're the same thing-- since I was 13. Not only were your Holmes & Watson in character (read: believable), you achieved the right "voice" in narration.
Thank you! I look forward to reading more of your fiction. I think I'll start with Mr. Potter...
Thanks so much! And yeah, I used Tiresias' name because according to mythology, he was a transsexual; the gods made him female for part of his life. (Intended as a punishment; when he decided he liked sex better as a woman, they changed him back. *g*)

This was so amazingly in character that I'm in awe. Not a false note anywhere.
(Any particular reason you named the ship Tireseas? Just curious, as a Homeric freak.)
