Can't wait to see this! But I'm defo going for 2D after seeing the trailer in 3D while waiting for Gravity the other day - Gravity in 3D was bloody brilliant but if the Hobbit trailer was the quality to expect in the main film then - no. Just no.
My theory is that Kili is still pretty young, the dwarven girls his age may yet to have grown hair. So he sees Tauriel as a really tall pretty girl his age (though she's not and he knows that). The other dwarves probably think elven women look a bit prepubescent to them.
I really hope they make that Temeraire movie some day, because this Hobbit movie definitely proved that dragons can be super cool and actually have personality and presence even if they are just CGI.
And I guess they did hint at Kili already finding elves attractive in the last movie, so at least it didn't come completely out of the blue and I think the other dwarves did look at him a bit funny, so it's not a general preference? Maybe?
My sister and I sat through the last half of the movie whispering "Will this ... Turner that" when Bard did stuff. If you saw the last Three Musketeers movie, he was Aramis and boy, did he also carry the Turner gene there.
And yes, I thought of another dragon watching Smaug, darker and better-mannered of course. :-D
