desperately seeking Witchblade recs

Sep 20, 2003 00:31

Can anyone help? I've just gotten hooked on the series thanks to killabeez, and now I am in dire need of good fanfic & vids, especially Irons/Nottingham. Wow, those two are smoking.

I myself can recommend MacGeorge's HL/WB crossover, Digitabulum Magae, which suffers from the serious problem of my having finished it last night.

I need more! *sob*

witchblade, recs

The only other Witchblade story I know of is Competition by Devil Child. http://www.tenebris.org/mbb/miscfic/competition.html No Irons, and it's a bit different because it's the comic Ian, but still fun.

But I can tell you, whatever you do, don't watch S2. I still had it sitting on my TIVO and pulled it off the other weekend. Even just wandering through every now and then, it was horrible. Every good thing about S1 was just trampled in the dirt. That's several hours of my life I'm never getting back.

Really, truly, listen to Lys. She knows of what she speaks. At least, don't watch it until you're ready to seriously mellow out your buzz.

What's really sad is the only reason I did it was that I had some friends who wanted it, or so I thought. Otherwise I would've just globally nixed them as soon as I saw the opener. After I transferred them all to tape, I called them to see if they wanted them and was told, "Are you nuts?! S2 was HORRIBLE!"

Some days you just can't win. :->

Yeah -- I'm probably going to end up watching S2 for vid source at some point, but in my head it's already just a weird AU. *g*

Right there with you! I just got season 1 the other day and now I'm pantzafire.

No story recs yet (alas), but here's a vid archive/links page with many excellent vids. There are quite a few on that page who seem only to be in Witchblade. I like Wildswan vids, and DEHPenguin is fun and prolific, and Fancy Pants (especially "Gelefan"). JMTorres and Bonibaru are fab, but I'm sure you know about them already.

For some reason, though, a lot of vidders make HUUUUUUUGE mpeg files rather than .avi or Real. So, you need high speed or plenty of patiencee. :|

WB Recs anonymous September 21 2003, 09:15:16 UTC
Hello! There are quite a few WB fanfics available (many different authors) on http://pub92.ezboard.com/fwitchbladeconnectionsfrm1. Also, you may find http://www.voy.com/39259/ and http://www.voy.com/48117/ a good source of further fics, although their boards are more primitive in terms of structure.

I fear I can't offer recs on individual stories; I haven't been keeping track of other folks' stuff (because I'm currently obsessing over a story of my own). I've heard lots of good things about several authors on these sites, though.

Gah, you weren't kidding about the primitive structure. I find even the first one totally unreadable. :/ Thanks for the links anyway -- look forward to seeing your story when it comes around!

I forgot to list a better site. :) anonymous September 21 2003, 21:46:27 UTC
Silly me, I completely forgot about this site, which is far from primitive; I think you'll find it quite readable. It also comes with reader reviews and ratings. :) Main page is http://kompir.republika.pl/home.html .

Very sweet of you to say that about the story I'm working on. Now I must hug you. Accept your fate with resignation.

Yea- Witchblade talk on LJ! I don't see that very often. Forgive the late addition to this thread, but I just surfed in by following 'friends' links.

Unfortunately, there isn't that much Ian/Irons slash out there that I've found. Digitabulum Magae is probably the only full length story I know of that is Ian/Irons slash (and I wish we'd gotten more Ian/Irons in that one). I think there was an Ian/Irons/Sara story, but I can't remember the name. However, I'm always happy to throw out some recs!!

Jessica Roberts Fanfic is some of the best out there- long, well written and well developed stories (and quite a few of them). It's not slash (more action/adventure in the style of the show), but does a nice job of including the Ian/Irons/Sara triangle (though not as a three-way).

Jazz9star has a great series of Ian/Irons-centric stories that explore Ian's childhood. They aren't slash, but they are wonderfully dark and disturbing and... sweet. I'd start with Truce (Ian wants a soul) and then be sure to catch Sunday (Ian wants a ( ... )
