DivX multipass explanation

So if any of you have been trying to use DivX encoding and been as confused by the multi-pass feature as I was? The trick is, you have to encode the vid two separate times, first using the "Multipass, 1st pass" option, then using the "Multipass, nth pass" option. You encode the same source both times, as unintuitive as that sounds -- ie, you do * ( Read more... )

It's funny, I haven't a clue what you're discussing beyond DivX=scary, but every time I saw multipass, I thought of The Fifth Element. In my head, I hear you saying it like Mila Jovovich in the movie. All you need is orange red hair!

And I *did* know what she was talking about, but hey! It's "multipass"!

I still love Leeloo.

Always happy to be of service! *g* Also updated the entry -- 768 kbps does look like the bitrate to be at, after all.

Thank you for the tip. I've tried using the "Multipass, nth pass" option before, but it would never work. Now I know why!

Hi! I posted a question about Dr. DivX in my journal, and liviapenn directed me here. I hope you don't mind me posting in your lj.

So, I'm curious--have you tried the new Dr. DivX program that's supposed to make DivX encoding reeeally easy? And if so, do you have any thoughts on it?

Take your time getting back to me--I'm totally being intruding and demanding, here. ::whistles innocently::
