Hey guys, alas RL intervened and in the end I wasn't able to make today's candidate chat. I'll be putting together answers to the questions asked there shortly, but in the meantime I thought I would share a few thoughts I had been hoping to toss out in the chat, to make up for not being there.

A con and local meetups sounds like a great idea! Magnificent Seven fandom did something similar once: it was called The Global Gathering. There were a whole bunch of mini-cons on the same weekend across the world, and it came off really well!

The groups had only one track of programming were actually small enough that the con was actually a con-on-foot frequently, as Gatherings would go touristing together and seeing the sights while holding a panel at the same time. It was great!

The Con idea is very cool. :D

I like the 1:1 idea too - especially at the committee member and chair level. The next level down from my perspective is a little trickier but not Impossible. Fortnightly might be an easier thing.
