Awesome things about Dreamwidth: No ads and the owners are awesome and stand by their word. such_things has post about those and other awesome things here. One feature I particularly like (I'm not sure if this is a paid feature or not) is filtering people on your reading page based on their tags. In other words, you can choose to watch only certain tags of a user, or ignore specific tags. That person whose posts you love but whose posts about their dog drive you up the wall? Filter away any post the person tags "my dog". If that feature doesn't appeal to you, there's a list of other new things here.
