I spent the last two days in Pennsylvania working in Monroe County on GOTV. One of the things I was signed up to do was line manage last night -- bring food and water and encouragement to people on line waiting to vote. Watching Jon and Stephen try to pretend that they weren't tearing up (we see your trembling lip behind that coffee cup, Mr. Stewart) was so awesome.

Where I was we broke out into spontenous song as well, all the America songs which were suddenly sung with glee rather than nausea, but then I was with a bunch of theatre people, so it was suddenly operatic. *g* It was an amazing night, despite the blight of Prop 8.

I have never in my life heard a spontaneous round of the Star-Spangled Banner. Never. It may be the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. (And yes, I'm crying yet again - god, I feel so much love today.)
