This story was started in July of last year, vroomed along happily for a while, and then I discovered I wasn't writing the story I thought I was, and everything ground to a halt. Infinite thanks to rivkat for figuring out what was wrong with the engine, to cesperanza for beta in Africa and at home, and to bonehed for choosing to kickstart it for Sweet Charity. It's so like Lex, to rule not one world but two, once he gets the means. Trust him to be good at everything.

Wonderful story, I'm so glad you've written SV again. :)

Loved this, sat and read it with glee! I liked the way both versions of Lex got to a point where they went 'crap, I'm not the Lex who can deal with this!' and ended up needing the other's help :D

This is so cool! Alternate dimensions are the best - and I especially liked the way you used older comics and cartoon continuity to develop the parallels between versions of the characters. But I must confess that I prefer cranky mad scientist Luthor to cool politician Lex, even if the latter is from Smallville-verse.

(One tiny thing I noticed, though - near the end, after both universes have made contact, you switch from Superman to Clark, when referring to the same character in the middle of a section. As Mercy has already switched over, this may be intentional, but I don't think it was?)

No, it was on purpose -- because both Clarks appeared in that scene, I wanted to signal briefly that this was the one from the Legion of Doom universe even though they were both "Clark" to both the Lex Luthors by then. *g* (Oh, the joy of duplicate characters!)

Aha - I understand now! (Apologies, I obviously fail at keeping track of multiple alternative universe duplicates in my head.) Oh, and I wanted to add thanks for including Tala, Queen of Evil! I think magicians are criminally underused in the DCU, so it's lovely to see them appearing in stories.

Oh, delightful! And I have to say that Alt!Lex is adorable in his differences. *g*
