So, I've been reading a fair amount this last week. I plowed from an amusing, if not literary great novel, entitled “Across the Nightingale Floor” in a grand total of three days. Ah, escapism. Isn't it great? I've realized that that's most of the reason I read, with enjoyment of reading being second to that. If I'm having a lot of troubles in life, I'll likely either throw myself into reading or throw myself into writing about something irrelevant to the trouble(s). Or I'll throw myself into conquering some game or other. I have a harder time doing that with TV or anime, unless the problem is that I'm feeling low on friends. TV and anime leave me too open to thinking about other things--like you said, they don't require as much concentration.

yeah, books are fantastic, as is escapism. now, if only i could write well enough to do novels, then i would be able to escape even more, for even longer.
