In the overall perspective of the world, I think you forget what an infant the USA is...it's only 400, compared to the ancient civilizations that you are experiencing, or compared to Europe, or even to the relatively young British Isles at 1600 years old. So we haven't really had the time to develop a culture such as you are seeing, but our culture has had impact on the entire world. While it may not be magnificent and antique, the USA is the gold standard. Look around at the natives, and what they aspire to be...westernized.

In another arena, musical theatre and jazz define a lot of our musical culture, and are totally original to the USA. So, we DO actually have a culture...it's just a baby one, and specializes in certain arenas that may not seem important to you in the grand scheme...

Geez. Can I ever NOT teach? :-)

i had no doubt it was my favorite yearbook advisor, there is a unique style to your comments that need no name attached...
ps. I HATE learning, so STOP trying to teach me, you'd think you were a teacher or something? ;)
