As for DW, I'm pretty sure Moffat wrote himself into a corner with River's story and pulled 'Let's Kill Hitler' out of his ass to try to make sense of it all. My verdict? Failure.
Please allow me to politely, but vehemently, disagree 100%. :) If he's not had most of River's story planned out in its entirety from the beginning (esp considering that River's story is now the Doctor's story), I'll eat my cat. Here, have a few throwaway lines from Time of Angels:

Amy: How come you can fly the TARDIS?
River: Oh, I had lessons from the very best.
Doctor: Well...(he smiles to himself)...Yeah.
River: It's a shame you were busy that day.

ETA: Basically what I'm trying to say is that there are no corners in a circle - and if Moffat's Who is anything, it's circular. *g*
