I liked how Jack shifted from fun, flirty guy to the guy who led Torchwood.
"You have to ditch the car! NOW!"
Although I had to laugh when they were talking about how Jack couldn't get his team. Yes, there wouldn't have been any problems if Owen had been around.

What is the deal with Saxon's wife? She made her choice? Is she just that controlled?

Maybe I am just a conspiracy theorist, but part of me is wondering if the seemingly controlled is actually the controller in cahoots with the thingermabobs whose names just escaped me.
If he isn't being controlled, then why is he still hearing drums (which he futhered with the Archangel project)? Somehow I think the wife is tied up in it, even if she is just an evil human.

BTW: It's entirely your fault that I am now so currently obsessed with DW. You and that nefarious dvd, my friend. You knew I would be doomed!
Doctor to Martha: It’s like when you fancy someone and they don’t even know you exist. Jack to Martha: You too, huh?

I loved this for what it was, but it also got me thinking to my re-watch of series one last week. I think this was very much how Nine felt about Rose until Bad Wolf/PotW when Rose (IMHO) realized she loved him, too. And I think that's for me why I like Rose/Doctor as companions above and beyond being a couple. Rose wasn't instantly in thrall like Martha (which annoys me to no end) and I think that really intrigued Nine.
Rose was intrigued by the Doctor and what he could offer her, but I never saw her as enthralled even after she fell in love with him. They've scaled back on Martha's unrequited love the past couple of weeks (thank God), but she needs to accept Jack's attitude of "You too?" and moving on. I have a feeling she's about to get a glimpse of the dark side of the Doctor and maybe that will help her realize there isn't going to be any happily ever after.
Much like "Bad Wolf" from Season 1, Saxon has been there all along and trying to get to the Doctor through Martha.
Oh! This made a little lightbulb ping inside my head. Now you put it like that, it's slotted things into place a little bit more neatly for me. In fact, now I'm wondering how accidental the Doctor and Martha's meeting was in the first place. Did the Master engineer that too? The first episode seems so long ago I can't remember the details.
And yes, I too am glad the Doctor rescued his coat before the apartment blew up. Since they've taken away most of my visual pleasure in David Tennant by turning him into an elderly man, I'm glad at least I still have the coat to cling to. ;)

Oh, now that is intriguing. It's like the chicken and egg argument and which came first? I'm a bit murky on the details of the first ep of the season, but I do recall that the Doctor knew he had to be at the hospital because something major was going to happen there. And Martha makes the comment when they get back to London that it's only been four days since she left. Since the Master has been setting his plan in motion for eighteen months it's possible that the Martha/Doctor meeting was no accident.
I hope the Doctor reverts to his young self (so to speak ;) quickly for the simple fact that old age makeup is never a good thing to see on TV.
