Long Time, No LJ Post

Well, long for me anyway. If anyone was thinking that just because there in no BSG (still no podcast) I don't have anything to say, no, that’s not the case. I am well-rounded. Really! I just needed a little LJ/internet break, but didn’t feel like making an announcement to that fact since I really wasn’t gone. I’ve been doing a lot of skimming ( Read more... )

Finally, in the closing moments, he gets that from Jack. It’s a big moment for Jonas and the team, yet ultimately pointless with Daniel coming back in the very next episode in order to set up his return.

One might almost suspect those two things were related!

I enjoyed "Prophecy" too; after the show pushed so hard at the beginning of the season to try to make Jonas so good at everything, this was a talent that was more a curse and a much better way of exploring his character. And I think they did a reasonable job of posing an interesting question about free will.

I can see why the other ascended folks kicked Daniel to the curb.

He's the worst Ascended being ever! Seriously, I actually like it about Daniel that he can't let go, he has to interfere, but wow was he not cut out for that lifestyle. What was Oma thinking?

That's very disappointing news about the WKRP DVDs.

That needs to be on an icon if it isn't already.

I get the impression that Oma just can't stand to see people suffer or die before their time so her solution is to ascend everyone she comes across in dire straights. When have we seen Daniel just stand by and not act? It's a great quality for a human being to want to help and make things better and do the right thing, but he seems to forget he's not human anymore.

I'm majorly bummed about the WKRP set. Supposedly there are bootlegs of the uncut episodes floating around. Not that I'm looking.

Mmm, yeah I have mixed feelings on Who too, which is why I'm not saying much about it. I love Martha, but I'm annoyed that she's crushing so much on the Doctor. And I'm annoyed at the Doctor for emo-ing so much over Rose. And the Shakespeare stuff... well, I'm a bit of a Shakespeare nerd, so it didn't really deliver for me. I can see how if you had a more superficial knowledge of him, it would be cute and funny, and I kind of enjoyed the cheesiness anyway... but yeah, I was expecting more of a Macbeth tie-in for the witches, and I did have some issues with the casualness with which they supposedly accepted Martha in Elizabethan England. *frowns* It's frustrating because this could be the sort of show I'd love.

I hear ya. I really enjoyed the first season and I think it's because in addition to doing many things well it seemed to have so much potential. And now every week I feel as if I'm watching missed opportunities and, in some cases, them just coasting along. How can a British show not capatilize on Shakespeare?

I don't know! I guess they really are pitching at quite a 'low' level. Or, at least, I certainly don't get the feeling they're striving for the heights of television genius. ;-) And don't even get me started on Torchwood... ::stabs::

Let us not speak of Torchwood. Accept 'They Keep Killing Suzie' - I actually liked that ep.

Hiya!

If anything, Casino Royale is good for the fact that the director decided to have Daniel Craig step out of the ocean in a small pair of trunks. More than once. This, you must admit, is a good thing.

Hee! Well, it's certainly not a bad thing. ;) I was impressed with his performance. He conveyed quite a lot with just his facial expressions and that is a tough thing to do. Underneath the cold, hard exterior I could sense Bond's inner turmoil and anguish.

The WKRP thing broke my heart when I read it. I doubt I'll buy them; sometimes memories really are better.

I liked Casino Royale a lot. I agree that it didn't feel like the Bond of recent years, but it felt much more like the Bonds that I watched as a kid, which I thought was a good restart for the series.

I was so geeked for the WKRP DVD's and could well except some musical changes, but entire scenes missing? That's too much. I saw at Amazon a lot of people have cancelled their preorders.

I wasn't even holding 'Casino Royale' up to recent Bond outings. There just didn't seem to be anything gimmicky and I missed the gimmicks. I did enjoy getting some backstory and the increased presence of M.
