[For Remy]

It will be really nice, Nate thinks, when all the important conversations he has to have with the people he cares about aren't the sort that make him feel vaguely nauseated in anticipation. To be fair, it could be much worse -- Remy has been more understanding about the entire situation with Brad than Nate ever could have hoped for. That doesn't ( Read more... )

I was slightly surprised, having meant to go find Nate eventually today--even when there wasn't exactly a standard work week here, Saturday still felt like Saturday. Get some dinner. Maybe go dig up a beer somewhere, if we could find one.

In the meantime, I was doing the teenage girl thing, sprawled out on my bed listening to music on my iPod. Except teenage girls would be giggling instead of dozing off in the heat. I looked up at the door when the light in the room changed, and hit pause.

"Hey," I said, smiling, and rubbed my eyes a little. "Sorry, drifting off."

Brad was right, Nate is a lucky man. Not that he had been unaware, or that Remy would agree, but the fact remains: There is a singularly gorgeous, intelligent woman smiling drowsily up from her bed, and it's completely for him.

"Hey," he greets in turn, letting the door swing shut behind him as he crosses easily to her bed, climbs instinctively up the lean lines of Remy's body, hovering above her, flower still in one hand. At ease at least for the moment, he smiles down at her, ducks his head and presses kisses to her throat, jaw and finally her mouth.

Well, believe me, I wasn't exactly going to push him off, not Nate ever, when he felt like he always did; warm and solid and entirely appealing. I stretched a little underneath him, appreciated his mouth against my neck with a soft sound, and reached up to brush his hair back from his ears before kissing him back, nice and slow.

"Was just going to go look for you," I noted as I eased back a little, then blushed as I couldn't help but yawn.

That prompts a quiet chuckle from Nate, who leans in to press slow, worshipful kisses to her cheeks, the arch of each eyebrow, the tip of her nose. "I love you, you know," he murmurs as he gazes steadily down at her, understands it completely now.
