OBAMA WINS IOWA!

Jan 04, 2008 21:31

If I wasn't going to be 12 days too young to vote, I would vote for him like 12938712937 times.  Actually, I guess I would only get to vote for him once...or something.  But I did manage to find a nifty icon.

Edit - so here's my official first Election '08 rant-fest.  I'll probably just go through a few of the candidates from each party who I think ( Read more... )

Aww :( I was pissed about the fact that I'm 4 days too young to vote in the Ohio primary... but yours sucks more. Which doesn't make you feel better, haha :D

But! 12938712937 plus 85 billion people are going to vote for him, so it will be okay! =D

D: Yeah. What makes me really angry is that it seems like everyone at my high school who's going to be 18 by then is...eh...uninformed (I hear things such as "LOL IRAQ DID 9/11" and "DEMOCRATS WORSHIP SATAN" on a daily basis, haha).

Not that it matters in Texas anyway because the Republican always wins. I'm not sure if the fact that my vote wouldn't have mattered anyway makes me feel better or worse. lol.

But if Obama gets the nomination, I will be sure to harass everyone I know into voting for him :)

=( That sucks. Texas. Hmm. My aunt, who's hardcore liberal, lived in Austin for 10 years, and I'm really not sure how she did it. I go to Catholic school, and I think people are relatively well-informed, but all I hear constantly is talk about pro-life and being against gay marriage and how Hilary is the devil and Obama's middle name is Hussein. Every single person in my group of friends is super conservative except for me, and we got into such a heated debate one night that we have to refer to abortion as "smushmortion" so we laugh instead of fighting :D It's so frustrating for me, though.

Start the harassing now! =D Prepare them for when he gets the nomination :D

Yep, that's how it is here too, except Catholics generally tend to be considered more liberal here.

Austin is known as the "liberal" Texas city though (I've heard people call it the "liberal oasis in the conservative desert" :P )...all the liberal kids go to UT Austin and everything.

But up here it's like...I've actually had things thrown at me in political debates. Not joking. XD

i can legally vote, but the Floridian democratic primary doesn't count because it falls before a certain date and it'll be impossible to change it since the democratic and republican parties have to agree on moving the date. so much for democracy, huh?

That's so stupid! Do they still have a primary as a formality, or are they just not doing it?

i think they're still having it as a formality, but the candidates have promised not to campaign here (although Hillary came twice). I'm really not sure, it's all such a mess. First the hanging chads of the '04 election and now this. Florida is dumb.

I enjoy flipping over to Fox and CNBC to check what's happening in Iowa.

I'm glad that Obama won. I hope he wins.
