If Apple had called me, I would have been fine. They had no plans to call me. They planned to wait until I started wondering about my order and then have me call them because I thought something was wrong. Apparently my order would have been released at some future date if I hadn't called, but the manager didn't say how long my order might otherwise have been allowed to wait

Deep fat fryers and rice cookers have been using a MagSafe-like connection for years. The part about a laptop getting that hot is sarcasm, but not too far off given my experience with this awful HP/Compaq nc6000.
