As I mused the fire burned

Lately whenever I've been around people who don't know me very well, I start to feel slightly Stalkeresque. Because of my 'keen eye for detail' as the colloquialism goes, I tend to know far more about people than they've actually told me: like how many kids they have and when their birthday is or how many biscuits they had for lunch ( Read more... )

Wow, i totally know what you mean! I've had to start remembering to pretend to forget things so it doesn't look like I care waaaay more about the other person than they do about me.

That's a really interesting point, what your mother said.

Yes. What the OP said, and this too! I find myself pretending that I don't know things because I'm acutely aware that I probably shouldn't know and/or remember these details about people. I don't like pretending, though, but I get really tired of what happens if I don't.

i've done that too.
so i usually keep the details to myself or ask them again

i usually remember a lot of stuff, even if i'm not paying attention-
but people tend to ignore me/not notice when i'm there so i often find myself listening to 'private' conversations. quite often i know news or gossip i don't particularly care about.

also, sometimes after i've arrived home my brother suddenly looks at me and goes "when did you get home?" me "a while ago. you were sitting on the couch by the door. i said hi"
it's kinda funny, actually

that's heelarious!

I too possess the power of invisibility.

I've also noticed that i can look at people for a long time without them noticing, yet if someone looks my way for more than a second, i *feel* it immediately.

I think we lack presence.

As for the 'too much information' problem, i think it's because NTs:
a) don't remember stuff, which is why they need diaries.
b) don't care when they hear stuff
c) don't immediately make connections between facts.

I'm a rooster (or, if you prefer, cock...ha ha ha, yeah) and my car is white with silver racing stripes. But I would love to have a red car painted just like Hot Rod.

yeah, I have a weird memory like that and I'll often just pull random facts out from nowhere...I find that if you remember something they said to *you* it's not so bad, you can just say that they told you and you have a really good memory, but if it's something they said on the phone or to someone when they didn't know you could hear it's probably not a good idea to mention it. I at least hear better than most folks, and pay attention to things that most don't (thanks, ADD!) so I know that sometimes I can hear things that no one thinks I can.
