Since it has been mentioned I did a quick reading on NLD on Wikipedia and suddenly things make even more sense. I suck at math and my mom thinks I have dyscalculia. After reading up on how that works, it didn't seem correct, where as NLD does.
I can relate to the theory presented above on how aspies are thought to be good with numbers because there are more men who are diagnosed than women and men are usually better with numbers than women.
I find both the supposition that math skills have something to do with "gender" and the overall definition of NLD to be insulting. I always had difficulty with math, and am not interested in it; but that isn't a "disorder," it is just specialization, which is a concept that is much more accepted in educational institutions outside of america. We need people who will function and think better in the humanities, and the job pool as well as the educational system clearly, should reflect that, instead of trying to make everyone know all the same things and then shove most people into stores selling things made in Chinese child labor sweatshops.
