Somehow I think I have completely failed to mention here that Joe and I have a new joint blog here. There's not a whole lot there yet, but my tentative plan is to be posting there more often now. But no worries - I fully intend to still keep up with reading posts here on LJ, and you all on my friends list will still get to put up with my ramblings ( Read more... )

For some reason it will NOT let me comment on your kitchen entry from today. :-P It keeps saying my "credentials could not be verified" -- as though I were applying for a job or something. ;-)

Here's my comment:
I love homemade sourdough bread! We haven't kept a starter since we owned our restaurant, but our homemade sourdough bread/buns were a big hit there. I haven't tried it with the Friendship Bread recipe. That's not my favorite stuff in the world because I didn't like the texture of anything we made with it, plus it seemed rather high-maintenance and fast-multiplying for something I didn't enjoy. ;-) I'm glad you've found some recipes you enjoy with it!

That's weird it wouldn't let you comment! We haven't heard from anyone else having the same problem...hopefully it was just a temporary glitch.

Do you remember how your sourdough bread starter differed from the Friendship Bread starter, like what ingredients it had and so on? I wouldn't have tried the Friendship Bread again if I hadn't seen the variety of recipes on the site - I mean, I do like the sweet breads made with it, but there's no way Joe and I would ever go through that much sweet bread, lol. But we both really liked the biscuits and pancakes made with it. The biscuits especially had an amazing texture and flavor - very light and with a gentle sweetness, though not your typical flakey baking powder type biscuit.
