Oh, yes, yes, YES! I love Olenna to bits, but I think what I liked most about this fic was seeing Alerie in action--she's learning oh so well from her mother in law without being consumed by the game of thrones the way Cersei ultimately is. I love the politicking behind the scenes and the explanation for Taena Merryweather's defection (which of course makes absolutely perfect sense), but I have such a weakness for stories where women resolve problems behind the scene instead of everything devolving into a battle.

I really enjoyed this look behind the scenes at the Hightower/Tyrell women. We don't get very much of Alerie in canon; she's so overshadowed by her mother-in-law and daughter and it was really amazing to get some of her POV on the situation with her children at the end of ADWD. And the ending was lovely.
