wow, I really enjoyed this. Jaime is one of my favorite characters and, though I am convinced he won't survive the Endgame, it's awesome to read a story that envisions a different situation.
also, your characterizations are dead-on. Jaime's unrelenting cynicism, his arrogance, his selfishness; everything about Brienne; even an older-and-hard-hearted Sansa--I believed them all.
Thank you! It's definitely hard to imagine Jaime getting a chance to grow old, which is why it's so interesting. I was a little surprised as I went on to discover how little most of them had changed. Well, most of them except for Sansa. . .
Gosh, this is outstanding. I love the Jaime/Brienne relationship here, the little kernels of backstory you've strewn throughout, and your older, colder Sansa. I adore Jaime thinking that Sansa probably outlived Littlefinger through the Moon Door, because it's so perfectly Jaime as well as being quite likely what happened.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked Jaime's speculation because I had to think about that part. "Wait, how would he ever know that happened? Obviously, because deep down he's still the type of person who thinks about throwing people who annoy him out of windows."
Truly enjoyable. I was curious to see where this was going. You caught the essence of Jaime's swag and self-loathing. I'm afraid he'll meet a dire fate in the books, but your fic offers an adorable alternative. Who wouldn't want an elderly Jaime/Brienne to happen? :3
