It's so refreshing to read a sympathetic portrayal of Petyr, in which he's not a creepy uncle or a scheming monster, but just a kid dying to be loved. Thank you for this, it was lovely, and I'm so sorry I couldn't comment sooner - I got eated by the holidays and life in general.

My two favorite passages were this one:Afterwards he felt desperately stupid for not coming to the conclusion himself, realising far too late what was going on around him. He heard the whispers of the castle folk, Aye, aye... Very well suited... Such a handsome young man, tall and strong... And the heir to the north, aye... So cold up there and full of the old gods... They say the wolves run free and there is always snow, even in the summers, poor girl, she'll freeze to death, may the Seven bless her...
which was lovely, because stylistically, you really get the impression of murmurs and a whirl of rumors that is probably also a lesson Petyr learns about the value of information
