Character

Name: Elicia Hughes
Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist
Gender: Female
Age: 6-years-old [NEXT BIRTHDAY: August 1st, 2012]
Time Period: Post-manga
Wing Color: Pale Light Blue
History: http://fma.wikia.com/wiki/Elicia

Personality: [First paragraph has some implied stuff from images in the manga/official art; consider it... possible headcanon if you will. ^^;]

Elicia has absorbed her father's carefree and fun attitude for everything she puts her mind to--she's surprisingly bright for a girl her age and shines a sort of Cute Beacon for all the world to see. She, like most young girls, loves stuffed animals and coloring books, but she also enjoys outdoor activities; she's a fan of chalk drawing, but seems to have a love for drawing in general. She can often become dedicated to her work enough to block out the other riff-raff around her, a trait more-than-likely snatched from her father. And when she completes her 'laborous' task, she'll proudly offer it up like an artist completing a masterpiece. She's also very doe-eyed and often gets her way: whether it's a giant teddy bear or an entire king-sized banquet for her birthday, she's been seen with the highest treatment.

Despite this, she seems relatively good for her age, and hasn't been shown to have an envious, selfish, or judgemental streak like many kids do in their younger years. She meets Alphonse in the second series anime and seems to be fine with his strange suit of armor (quite friendly, in fact). She may fear the big and scary monsters in the world, but those who show themselves to be kind and harmless are easy to become a friend; the outward appearance of something isn't a long-standing issue. Buddies are buddies. Judging by the animal-based toys she recieves, it's safe to say she is a big lover of animals--cute and cuddly like her, especially! So being friends with animals as well wouldn't be too big of a deal for this little girl.

Elicia views Edward and Alphonse fondly, though she's closest to Winry--when the blond-haired mechanic came to their home she connected in no time at all--she sees Winry as a sort of doctor, a fixer of toys, and it's not long before she's sitting in Winry's lap and being quite relaxed in the teenager's company. When she's about to leave and return to the Elric brothers, Elicia grips her sleeve in an effort to keep her at the house. She tells her to come back soon, and it's from this point that they're more like sisters. Elicia admires and enjoys her company, and even when Winry comes to visit later on after her father has died, the child finds comfort in sitting with her 'sister'.

Speaking of her papa--it isn't long before the dreaded chapter 15 occurs.

The death of her father shows that she couldn't quite grasp the idea of dying, and when Winry comes to visit she assumes it's her father coming back from a long day at the office. For most children, the demise of a loved one doesn't summarize well in their minds, and it shows in Elicia while she hopes and waits. However, she does comprehend that the absense of her father has been effecting people around her. For example, she tries to comfort her mother when she cries (after Edward departs with an also hurting Winry). All the child can really do is offer her semi-confused but understanding touch. Mama's hurting, and she has to be there to help. That's important.

However, near the end of the series they can be seen anticipating the lunar eclipse, which shows the two are managing to get through their grief and confusion together as Hughes would have wanted, smiling and keeping each other preoccupied. In chapter 108 they can be seen conversing with Alphonse, now in his human body, and seem to be in happy spirits. Elicia is five at this point, and has matured quite well--she even understands the implications of relationships (as seen in the conversation about Winry and Edward). She's happy and healthy, and even though there's a lot of ache on her side as well as her mother's, they're getting by and keeping themselves upbeat.

Strengths:

Physical: She's physically healthy for a girl her age! But of course, with a mother like Gracia continuing the Hughes Parenting Legacy, there wasn't any doubt she'd be the pinnacle of health. She's also a good height for her age, and not chubby at all (except for her cheeks, perhaps, as baby fat is totally cute). While running will clearly wear her out compared to an adult, she's pretty quick, albeit clumsy. Just don't expect her to win a marathon.

Mental: Mentally, she is... Well, a tiny bit stubborn? Okay, she doesn't have much 'strength' in the way of mental power--saving most of this for the weaknesses section, she's mentally sound and just right! Being raised in a calm and caring household certainly keeps a person happy in the brain department. Not to mention--a trait from her father, or the commonplace trait of a child her age?--she's a very curious individual. No doubt she'll stick her nose into a conversation, if it's interesting. But this mainly applies to things she sees... If she sees a cat she'll probably follow it with the intent to find out more. It's simply in her better/worse nature.

Emotional: Her emotions tend to get the better of her--clearly a child's trait, clearly a trait capable of being strong and weak--she loves easily, is easy to make happy, and finds contentment in the most simplistic of everyday activities. Even a stroll through a park will brighten her spirits--unlike adults, where pre-existing negative feelings normally just linger throughout days, maybe even weeks. There's not much that will keep her upset for more than a few hours. She's also emotionally strong in that she brings out the best in a lot of people... You'd have to literally be a villain to just outright deny the girl is deserving of a semi-friendly conversation.

Weaknesses:

Physical: This one is an easy one--unfortunately for Elicia, she's a five-year-old in a big scary world. She's not strong, can't punch through walls (though wouldn't she be an even more kick-ass daughter if she could! :|a) and certainly won't be doing any battling. That said, you can really just shove her to the ground with your pinky and you win. She lacks stamina like adults, lacks battling prowess, and whatever else physical qualities you can think of. She'll just hide in the background and look cute (it's the Hughes family tradition, of course *_*b), if that's all right with you crazy fighter folk.

Mental: She's not strong mind-wise. That's quite obvious with or without a summary: anyone with telepathic or mind-control powers could pick her apart like a tower of toothpicks. There's really no resistance against anything like that, and she can hardly endure even the non-magical problems in Luceti. If you're good at talking people into things, you'll really have nooo problem dealing with Elicia. She also worries consistently that more people will leave her ala daddy, so her attachment to people can be quite literally clinging to your ankle for you to stick around.

Emotional: Yikes, poor kid, she's completely prone to crying and wibbling like the five-year-old she is. As stated in her strengths section, her emotions get the better of her. When she's truly upset she is despondent and quiet, hard to manage until you can get a foot in the emotional door with her. She simply cannot control her emotions and will never really be trained/worked into ever being able to do so. Outbursts at danger, frowny faces at things she doesn't like, crying over split milk--the kid is just a little bundle of unrefined feelings that she lets run at will, depending on her mood. It's to be expected for someone who is learning their ABC's.
