Oh you big sap you!

I just read an article about this crazy champion horse. He was just about to run when they got an ominous call from the steward. He'd eaten one of his trainer's buttons. They all rushed around there, but by the time they arrived he was feeling much perkier and ate someone's buttonhole rose and came second by a nose.

I knew it reminded me of something.

Actually it makes me think. Mr V is based on my childhood toy with buttons for eyes. I got him when I was two. Did I eat his original eyes?

LOL! A.S. NightBird ... "Sap" is my middle name. ;-)

Oh geez! That's really hilarious. Wouldn't want to get too close to *that* horse.

Funny the things we remember from when we were kids. Well, wherever Mr. V came from, he's a wonderful character in the story. Thanks so much for writing "The Contract" and starting this whole thing.

It's terribly embarrassing (so I am whispering), but I still have him.

He is called Elef, is older than me, was bought for two dollars on a whim at a second hand store when I was two, wears a Hawiian shirt, has purple buttons for eyes and not much fur left because he has been through the washing machine so many times (let's not even mention the great drama when I was 8 and he got tangled up in the doona cover and went missing for weeks and was finally rescued by the cleaning lady).

It is funny how universal the idea of a furry friend is. My nephew has 'Sleepy'. Unfortunately Sleepy (who is a girl) was a white silk scarf. Now she is a sort of grey rag.

Someone made me a Mr V. He is very cute, but has to be kept out of sight because my Shitzu keeps trying to eat him.

Don't feel embarrassed. About 13 years ago, I met a woman who was putting herself through school. She hand made stuffed animals and sold them to earn money. She had this big stuffed brown dog (3 ft. from nose to base of tail, tail's about another 2 ft. long) with her. I commented on how cute he was. She said I could have him for $45.00. I bought him on the spot and named him Michael. I had brought him with me one day to show a friend. On the way out to my car (it was dark already), I tripped over those little curb things they put at the head of parking spaces and fell. I had been holding Michael in front of me, so he hit the curb, and I did a faceplant into the back of Michael's head. If it hadn't been for him, I would have hit the curb with my chin and fractured my jaw. I wound up with only a scraped knee, a minor cut on my hand, and a few minor bruises. He just got a little bit dirty. Needless to say, I will *never* get rid of him! He really saved my butt (jaw ( ... )

That was nicely done. A wee bit heartwrenching, of course, but this whole universe is. *sniffles*

I can't believe I just found this story, so cute and I love Wih's Mr Vicodin, I think he is one of the best parts of the Contractverse. The story above about the dog reminded me of my little battle buddy. I got this blue bear for my mom and myself before I joined the Army. When I deployed to Iraq I took him with me. He went from Kuwait to Baghdad and then to Northern Iraq. The first time we came under sttack I was sleeping and he was next to me, in order to mask I shoved him acroiss the room and grabbed my mask. He and my glasses were both across the tent. After a year deployment he was a little battered and is no longer blue but I wouldn't trade him for anything.
