But the ways in which they've accomplished these things are so hackneyed and unorganic and annoying that I've actually given up on the show completely. I appreciate that the show will probably be better for the reboot in the end, but as it is, I feel like this season has confirmed my feelings that Smallville is probably the worst written show I've ever watched.

With regard to the writing, I do see what you mean; some of the dialogue is quite hackneyed, but I think the performances tend to raise it above what would (on paper) be terrible. I think the showrunners did a good job choosing Sam Witwer and Cassidy Freeman as the new regulars; they're both kicking ass in their roles.

The show this season's been knocking it out of the park when it comes to interpersonal relationships; the writers have stayed true to the Clark/Chloe friendship*; and taken steps towards establishing the season-long Big Bad.
Can't wait to read your long and plotty story - it's going to be so much fun to read!
* to the point where I - who was for the longest time rooting for Chloe and Clark to make it - am completely happy with the way their friendship has evolved organically so that Lois and Clark can eventually become LoisAndClark.
