LOL, I find your reasoning both compelling and entertaining. And all this McSheppard (which is what I think the shippers call it) seems to be everywhere, it's making me want to watch SGA even though I swore I wouldn't until I finished SG-1, like that's ever going to happen.

I would do this if I had more than three OTPs. No wait, make that four. Er, nevermind, apparently I can, so long as you can have platonic OTPs xP

Oooh, bonds. They are most shiney *_* And since this is fandom I'm allowed to be incredibly cracky with some of them :D Yay!

McShep sounds exactly the kind of ship I would sail, but I am stubbornly refusing to watch any canon for them and I always feel awkward reading fic for a fandom I don't know the background for xP

On the Kaitou Kid/Kudo Shinichi/Mouri Ran trio: are you by any chance not already familiar with Three Thieves?

It's an epic, currently-ongoing MC/MK fic with exactly that "pair"ing, written as a collaboration between Ysabet and Nightengale, who both were among the best MC/MK authors I know of even before they got together; the characterization of Ran seems to be done quite well. Updates every Friday, with rare (and always announced) exceptions.
